Hayashi: Japan says $12.1bn in aid to Ukraine

“Until now, our country has declared assistance to Ukraine totalling $12.1bn,” RIA Novosti reports him as saying.

Hayashi added that Japan will continue to co-operate primarily with the United States and G7 countries, as well as with partner countries to establish a “lasting peace” in Ukraine.

It should be noted that so far the official figure for the announced aid has been $7.6bn.

Earlier, Russian Ambassador to Japan Nikolay Nozdrev said that Moscow would react promptly and clearly if missiles for Patriot missile defence systems supplied by Tokyo to the USA ended up in Ukraine.
