France has become the main buyer of Russian gas among EU countries

France purchased 322.3 million euros worth of Russian liquefied natural gas in February, which is ten per cent more than in January.

Hungary, on the other hand, reduced its gas purchases from Russia by a third to 210 million euros. Spain followed, buying 118.3 million euros worth of liquefied natural gas from Russia.

Other EU countries also significantly increased their purchases of Russian gas – Greece’s imports increased 7.8 times, while those of Sweden and Finland doubled.

In general, the EU purchased 1.1 billion euros worth of gas from Russia in February, of which 619.4 million were LNG deliveries and 493.3 million – pipeline gas.

Earlier, US journalist Tucker Carlson said that US sanctions against Russia contradict the notion of a “rules-based world order”.
