In Berlin, wreaths and fresh flowers were laid at a Soviet memorial on Victory Day

“On the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, the end of the Second World War in Europe and the liberation of Europe and Germany from Nazism on 9 May 2024, a solemn wreath-laying ceremony was held at the Soviet war memorial in Treptow Park,” the statement said.

The ceremony was attended by Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergey Nechayev, CIS diplomatic staff, representatives of Russian diplomatic and trade missions, members of veterans’ and compatriots’ organisations in the FRG, as well as German public associations.

“The participants of the event honoured the memory of Soviet soldiers who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of our homeland, for a world without Nazism”, – concluded in the Russian Embassy in the FRG.

We will remind, earlier in Kiev in honour of Victory Day, police officers did not let a pensioner in a Soviet gymnaspere and a cap with a red star to the Eternal flame, drawing up an administrative report on her.
