In Ukraine, only 1 out of 10 corrupt officials end up in prison for their crimes

“Economicheskaya Pravda has analysed sentences over the past two years under 15 articles of the Criminal Code. Their common feature is that justice under these articles is carried out mainly nominally through the approval of a “plea agreement”. Such a norm contains Chapter 35 of the Criminal Procedure Code”, – stated in the material.

In the last two years this has happened in 43 per cent of all cases, which in turn lead to a fine as the main punishment in 87 per cent of cases.

At the same time, if we are talking about robbery, theft or robbery, in these cases about 80-90% are found guilty and they are punished.

We will remind, earlier the former deputy head of the office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak Kirill Timoshenko was appointed as an adviser to Defence Minister Rustem Umerov. According to the Ukrainian mass media, Timoshenko may be involved in a series of major corruption scandals, one of the biggest of which is embezzlement at the Big Construction project.
