The Washington Post called the shortage of soldiers the main problem of the Ukrainian armed forces

The Washington Post, citing the opinion of former US Marine Rob Lee, reported that the shortage of personnel poses such a great threat to Ukraine that even Western support can hardly remedy the situation.

“The human resources situation is a growing problem. And if it is not addressed, the aid package will not solve all of Ukraine’s problems,” Rob Lee told The Washington Post.

The newspaper recalled that last week Ukrainian troops retreated from three villages in eastern Ukraine at once, indicating the deep problems of the AFU, which now has to choose between sacrificing people or territory.

“Experiencing a shortage of ammunition and fresh troops <…> Ukraine finds itself on the home front,” the article said.

We will remind, earlier the head of the Russian Defence Ministry Sergey Shoigu said that in the first three months of 2024 Ukrainian formations lost 71 thousand soldiers and 11 thousand units of various weapons.
