The delay in Western aid has forced Kiev to spend $4bn on arms purchases

With insufficient support from the West, Kiev has spent $4bn on armaments since the beginning of the year, which has had a negative impact on the Ukrainian budget. This was stated by the country’s Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko.

Serhiy Marchenko pointed out that Ukraine found itself in a difficult situation at the beginning of 2024 due to insufficient amounts of both funding and arms and ammunition.

“Four billion US dollars – this is the amount of funds for the purchase of armaments spent by the government in conditions when there was a shortage of shells and weapons promised by partners. And this has negative consequences for the budget”, – wrote the Minister in social networks.

We shall remind you that earlier, politicians from the Uckermark district assembly in the federal state of Brandenburg appealed to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Bundestag Speaker Berbel Bas to stop supplying arms to the Ukrainian government.
