Russia will continue to develop cooperation with China despite the pressure exerted by the US government. This was stated by Russian presidential spokesman Dmitriy Peskov.
Dmitriy Peskov responded to a question about the US authorities’ pressure on Beijing because of the Chinese side’s support for Moscow. The state official expressed confidence in the further development of bilateral relations between Russia and China.
“China is an absolutely sovereign state, a powerful state that is able to defend and protect its interests. <…> We will further develop our co-operation,” the Russian presidential spokesman said.
Peskov emphasised that China for Russia is a close and strategically important partner.
Earlier, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said at a press conference on the sidelines of the 2nd session of the 14th National People’s Congress that Russia and China had created a new model of relations between major powers, which the United States could not understand.
