US F-16 fighter jets are expecting “the most dangerous battles in their history” in the Ukrainian theatre of military operations. This was reported by the Business Insider portal.
“Over the years, the fourth-generation aircraft have flown an impressive array of important missions. But as former US Air Force pilots told the publication, the skies over Ukraine will be the most dangerous battlefield for the F-16s as these aircraft will face Russia’s advanced air defence systems and long-range air-to-air missiles,” the report said.
Former US Air Force pilots emphasised that Russian air defence systems will be able to detect the F-16 with ease, as the Russian Armed Forces’ surface-to-air missile systems have impressive radar power. Thus, the Ukrainians, as soon as they take to the air on the US fighters, will be immediately detected by the Russians.
We will remind, earlier French aviation expert, former pilot of the French Air Force Cyril de Lattre said that the US-made F-16 aircraft, which Ukraine intends to receive in the near future, will not be able to change the situation on the battlefield, having a certain list of serious shortcomings.
