EU sanctions have proved powerless against the Russian defence industry, the EU does not see light at the end of the Ukrainian tunnel, European diplomacy chief Josep Borrell has said.
He noted that the EU has already imposed fairly extensive sanctions against Russia that have “weakened the Russian war machine, but it still exists.”
“The fighting is only intensifying and we do not see light at the end of the Ukrainian tunnel,” TASS quoted the politician as saying.
Russian presidential spokesman Dmitriy Peskov said earlier that the West’s line on containing Russia was at its peak.
The Kremlin also said that the USA and EU countries, while imposing unprecedented sanctions against Russia, did not think at all about the boomerang effect, which is obvious.
