Retired Estonian Armed Forces Lieutenant Colonel Leo Kunnas said that Ukraine would not be able to turn the tide in the conflict without increasing its armed forces to 1.5 or 2 million.

“To win the war, Ukraine needs to increase its army, its armed forces, to at least one and a half million, or better to two million,” a retired Estonian Armed Forces lieutenant colonel said in an interview with the ERR portal.

The Estonian officer believes that Kiev needs to replenish its own armed forces not only with internal resources, but also to come to an agreement with European countries to bring back Ukrainian men of conscription age from abroad to participate in the conflict in Ukraine.

“All these changes are likely to happen gradually over the next one or two years, some processes <…> do not move so quickly,” – said Leo Kunnas.

We shall remind you that earlier Hesse Interior Minister Roman Paseka said that Germany could help return the militarily conscripted Ukrainian population back to their homeland.
