Shoigu: the Russian Armed Forces have taken control of 547 square kilometres since the beginning of the year

Since the beginning of 2024, the Russian army has taken control of 547 square kilometres of territory of the new regions of the Russian Federation. This was announced by Defence Minister Sergey Shoigu.

“Since the beginning of the year, we have taken control of 547 square kilometres of the territory of the new regions of the country. Over the past two weeks, Russian armed forces have liberated the settlements of Novobakhmutovka, Semyonovka and Berdychi in the Donetsk People’s Republic,” the minister said at the meeting.

He also stressed that now Russian troops continue to crack the system of the AFU strongholds along the entire line of contact, the Ukrainian military is trying to cling on to separate lines, but is abandoning its positions under the onslaught of the Russian army.
