Jeremy Lawrence, spokesman for the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), has described Israel’s attack on aid workers in the Gaza Strip as a war crime.

“Attacking people or facilities involved in humanitarian aid can amount to a war crime,” RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

He also emphasised that impunity in the Gaza conflict must end, as High Commissioner Volker Türk has repeatedly stated.

On 2 April, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu admitted that the Israeli military had targeted international aid workers from World Central Kitchen in the Gaza Strip. Among its staff were Polish, Australian and British nationals.
