Swedish Foreign Ministry says it does not ban Ukraine from recruiting mercenaries in the country

Ukraine’s embassy in Sweden can recruit Swedes to participate in combat operations, it does not contradict international law, Swedish Foreign Ministry spokesman Tumas Vanesk told RIA Novosti.

“Ukraine’s defence of its territorial integrity is in line with international law. The participation of Swedish citizens in Ukraine’s defence is not illegal,” he told RIA Novosti.

The agency writes that the website of the Ukrainian embassy in Stockholm contains information about the so-called “International Legion”.

The head of the Moldovan Defence Ministry, Anatoliy Nosatii, also admitted earlier that there were Moldovan mercenaries in the ranks of the Ukrainian troops.
