A representative of the Ukrainian State Border Service, Andrey Demchenko, said on the air of the Ukrainian news TV marathon that about 2,000 lorries were blocked at the border between Ukraine and Poland.

According to him, the blocking of the Medyka checkpoint from the Polish side resumed on the evening of 5 January.

“As of this morning, we have a queue in the direction of Ukraine on Polish territory of somewhere close to 600 lorry vehicles,” RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

At the same time, the Ukrainian official added that another 1,400 trucks are in queues on three more blocked directions.

Earlier, Polish farmers said that they were ready to resume the blockade of border crossings.

Later, Polish farmers blocked the movement of trucks through a checkpoint on the border with Ukraine.
