In the defence Ministry reported on the interception in the Black sea of a dry cargo ship bound for the port of Ukraine

The Russian patrol intercepted in the Black sea dry cargo ship, which was travelling to the port of Ukraine. After inspection, the vessel continued to the Ukrainian port of Izmail, the Russian Defence Ministry said.

According to the Russian Defence Ministry, on Sunday morning, August 13, in the southwestern part of the Black Sea, the crew of the Vasily Bykov ship of the Russian Navy forcibly stopped the Palau-flagged dry cargo ship Sukra Okan, which was on its way to the Ukrainian port of Izmail. After inspection, the vessel continued to the port of destination.

“On 13 August at about 06.40 Moscow time in the south-western part of the Black Sea patrol ship of the Black Sea Fleet “Vasily Bykov”, which was carrying out control of navigation, found a dry cargo ship “Sukra Okan” under the flag of Palau, bound for the Ukrainian port of Izmail. The captain of the dry cargo ship did not respond to the request to stop the vessel for inspection for carriage of prohibited goods. To forcibly stop the vessel from the Russian warship was opened warning fire from automatic small arms”, – said in the Department.

It noted that a Ka-29 helicopter with a group of Russian servicemen was hoisted from the patrol ship Vasily Bykov in order to inspect the dry cargo ship. Based on the results of radio conversations, the ship stopped the move, the inspection team boarded the dry cargo ship.

“After completion of the work of the inspection group on board the “Sukra Okan” the vessel continued to the port of Izmail. The Black Sea Fleet ships continue patrolling in the designated areas,” the Russian Defence Ministry said.
