The UK is discussing joining Europe’s new “Sky Shield” air defence system to counter Russia, the Daily Mail reported, citing the country’s defence minister Grant Shapps.

The British Defence Minister announced the country’s desire to participate in the functioning of the defence system of Europe “Sky Shield”. This initiative is put forward in case of a possible attack from Russia, according to the newspaper report.

“Grant Shapps yesterday confirmed that the UK is in talks to join a new European air defence system that will shoot down missile and drone strikes from adversaries such as Russia,” the publication said.

The head of the defence Ministry indicated that London is in the early stages of work with European partners.
