At a summit in July, the North Atlantic Alliance may approve a declaration rejecting direct intervention in the conflict in Ukraine, the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera has quoted the draft document as saying.

“No boots on the ground, <…> is one of the key phrases contained in the draft document to be approved at the NATO summit scheduled to take place in Washington from 9 to 11 July. It is about Ukraine: the North Atlantic Alliance will not send soldiers into battle,” the Corriere della Sera article said.

The newspaper specified that the summit also plans to transfer the chairmanship of the Ukrainian Defence Contact Group from the US defence secretary to NATO headquarters in Brussels.

“The strategy (on Ukraine – ed.) broadcast by the United States will not change, and at the same time Western leaders are preparing for a change of course,” the material notes.

The NATO summit is scheduled for July this year in the American capital Washington. Alliance Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said during a news conference in Kiev that he did not expect an agreement on Ukraine’s accession to the bloc to be reached at the July summit, noting at the same time that NATO countries should allocate arms to the Ukrainian government as a priority.

We shall remind you that earlier US entrepreneur and billionaire Elon Musk called it a problem that the US authorities have no purpose in the conflict in Ukraine.
