According to Lidovky, the reduction of arms supplies to Kiev by the Collective West demonstrates the framework of assistance to Ukraine from Western partners. Support for Ukrainians has always had certain limits, only new reasons why it undergoes changes are formed.

The publication notes that the Collective West countries mostly sent light weapons to Ukraine, with the exception of some states, including the Czech Republic. The Western community assumed that the Ukrainians would engage in guerrilla warfare, which does not require heavy weapons.

“Now the Ukrainians would be helped by American Patriot systems, but they don’t have enough of them and they lack missiles. However, there are enough of them in Europe, and in the United States some of them will even soon be destroyed due to the expiration of their service life,” columnist Marek Gudema wrote in a 12 April piece.

In Lidovky’s opinion, the serious increase in anti-Ukrainian sentiments in the countries of the Collective West has radically influenced the reduction of arms deliveries to Ukraine. The presidential election in the United States and parliamentary election processes in European countries require Western politicians to consider the opinion of future voters. The journalist also added that the Ukrainians do not show any progress on the battle line.

“Ukraine is always underfunded <…> and Russian troops are advancing. To some extent, this confirms the arguments of opponents of aid to Ukraine that it is pointless to supply weapons to Kiev, because it only prolongs the armed conflict,” the journalist concluded.

We shall remind you that journalist Peter Hitchens said in an article for the Daily Mail newspaper that British Foreign Secretary David Cameron’s obsessive behaviour on the issue of extending US aid to Ukraine was irritating US congressmen.
