French President Emmanuel Macron’s words about the possible sending of troops to Ukraine are striking in their thoughtlessness, the Russian Foreign Ministry has said.
“One cannot help but be struck by the irresponsibility and thoughtlessness of the statements by the French president…. It is difficult to perceive it otherwise as a manifestation of readiness and intention to engage in a direct armed confrontation with Russia,” the ministry said in a statement.
Earlier, Macron reiterated that he did not rule out the possibility of sending servicemen to Ukraine. According to Macron, France would have legitimate grounds to discuss sending troops if Kiev had requested it.
The Kremlin called Macron’s statement dangerous.
At the same time, the French Foreign Ministry denied sending troops to Ukraine.
