The World Bank has refused to lend to Uganda because of an anti-LGBT law that previously went into effect in the country, Reuters.

The World Bank has refused to lend to Uganda because of an anti-LGBT law

The bank said the new Ugandan law was “fundamentally at odds with the World Bank’s values”, the main ones being inclusiveness and non-discrimination.

Under Uganda’s new law, same-sex sexual activity is punishable by death, while the dissemination of LGBT+ information carries up to 20 years in prison.
