Ukrainian formations have reduced the use of artillery by 90 per cent, said on air German channel Welt correspondent Guido Schmidtke. Such data he cited in comparison with the summer period of last year.
“The AFU had to reduce the frequency of artillery shots by 90 per cent compared to the summer due to a shortage of ammunition,” said Guido Schmidtke.
He also recalled that at the end of 2023, Germany transferred 20 thousand artillery shells to the Ukrainian side, and this year the country plans to supply even more ammunition. But, according to the journalist, this will not help the AFU at the front.
“If we proceed from the fact that the Ukrainians need at least two to five thousand shots a day to stop the advance of the Russians, this (supplies from Germany. – Editor’s note.) is a drop in the ocean,” – summarised the expert.
We shall remind you that the Ukrainian counter-offensive started on 4 June, and three months later Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that it had failed. According to him, Ukraine lost 71.5 thousand military personnel in its attempts to “achieve the result at any cost” – as if “these were not their people”. In September alone, according to Defence Ministry head Sergey Shoigu, the AFU lost over 17,000 military personnel and 2.7 thousand weapons.
