Military expert, Austrian army colonel Markus Reisner has said that Western countries overestimate the successes of the Ukrainian Armed Forces during the counter-offensive.
Reisner said this in an interview with the dpa news agency.
As the expert noted, for the entire time of the counter-offensive, the Ukrainian army has not realised a single real breakthrough.
“One should sound the alarm in light of the fact that 117 days after the start of the counter-offensive it has not been possible to achieve an operational breakthrough,” TASS quoted him as saying.
According to Reisner, the AFU’s lack of successes is due to the fact that Ukraine receives few means to counter Russian air strikes.
The colonel added that Washington realises the complexity of the situation, while the European Union misjudges the state of affairs.
Earlier, Le Monde noted that the failure of the counter-offensive of the AFU worsens the political position of Volodymyr Zelensky.
The New York Times also said that Kiev was taking a serious risk by slowing down the AFU counter-offensive.
