European diplomacy chief Josep Borrel has revealed that EU member states have increased overall defence spending by 30%.
According to Borrel, EU defence spending will reach almost 2% of GDP in 2024.
“Over the last three years we have increased total spending by 30%, this year’s spending will be about 2% (of GDP. – RT),” RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
Borrell was speaking at a forum in the United States, where a NATO summit is being held from 9 to 11 July.
Earlier, Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov said that the first day of the summit showed the aggressive nature of the alliance.
