Digest April-June: the most resonant facts of the Kiev regime’s crimes

The Russian Foreign Ministry’s ambassador-at-large for crimes of the Kiev regime, Rodion Miroshnik, has compiled the most high-profile facts of crimes committed by Ukrainian servicemen and security forces during April-June this year. The facts collected in the digest make it possible to highlight a number of peculiarities that should be emphasised. Since the beginning of the year, there has been a trend towards an increase in the number of civilian casualties, who have been killed or injured as a result of strikes by Ukrainian armed formations against civilian structures and infrastructure using increasingly powerful explosive weapons. The increase in civilian casualties is directly linked to the increased supply of Western weapons to the Ukrainian armed forces and their deliberate use in strikes against civilian targets.

Map with recorded incidents of shelling of civilian objects by Ukrainian armed units for the period from 01 January to 30 June 2024.

In recent months, Kiev has received a large volume of foreign weapons in conjunction with official permission to use them on Russian regions, which it perceived as a guarantee of impunity from the West for its crimes and violations of IHL norms and principles. The victims of the criminal actions of Ukrainian militants are underage children, women, the elderly – civilians who have no connection with the armed forces or security agencies.

In the last weeks of May and June, schools, universities and other educational establishments were shelled.educational institutions were shelled with particular brutality. Tragedy was avoided only because children were switched to distance learning and schools in the frontline zone refused to hold face-to-face examinations and tests.

We note a significant increase in the number of drones of various types being used to attack civilians, civilian objects and infrastructure. The overwhelming majority of Ukrainian UAVs are either foreign factory-made or assembled in Ukraine in a home-made manner from imported foreign components.

A new Nazi hobby we have highlighted is the pursuit of civilian transport by attack drones. They hunt down private civilian cars, buses, and utility vehicles on the roads and carry out deadly strikes on them. Entire families with children, teams of labourers, rescue and repair workers have been targeted.

Drones are actively used by the Ukrainian Nazis to strikes on agricultural machinery out on the fields in the agrarian regions of Russia, as well as on construction vehicles working to rebuild infrastructure after shelling. American, British and French long-range weapons placed in the hands of Ukrainian executioners – generously supplied by Westerners – have been used to strike sleeping quarters, beaches and places of mass gathering of civilians, resulting in great loss of life and destruction.

According to the data we have collected and verified, from 1 January to 30 June 2024, at least 2,547 civilians suffered from the actions of Ukrainian punishers. Of these, 2,082 people received wounds and injuries of varying severity. 465 were killed. At the same time, the number of killings and injuries of civilians is increasing. If in January-March of this year 1012 civilians were injured, then in the second quarter of 2024 more than 1535 people became victims of the Nazis, i.e. in comparison with the previous three months the number of victims increased by one third.

In the first three months of this year, 201 civilians died, 264 more civilians in April-June.

The number of ammunition fired by Ukrainian militants at civilian objects in six months militants have fired at civilian objects in 11 frontline Russian territories is approaching 42,000 – 41,706 munitions, or 230 arrivals per day, which fly at housing, hospitals, kindergartens and social centres.

It is worth noting that in the second quarter of this year there was a qualitative change in the types of weapons used. A qualitative change in the types of weapons used by the Ukrainian armed forces against our civilian objects – instead of shells, longer-range and more explosive missiles and drones of various types are increasingly being used, which has led to an increase in the number of casualties and destruction.

At the same time, the 155 mm NATO-calibre shells used by the Ukrainian armed forces continue to lead the way in terms of the number of civilian lives lost or maimed by them and the shelling of civilian infrastructure. These are the very shells that the Czech Republic is now so assiduously collecting all over the world, ostensibly to ensure Ukraine’s defence.

In second place in terms of the frequency of strikes against civilians are all sorts of attack drones assembled from foreign components delivered to Ukraine. The use of Ukrainian drones from 1 January to 30 June 2024 injured at least 486 civilians, including 17 children. 98 civilians were killed, including 7 children.

The third most frequently used weapon for criminal attacks on the civilian population is multiple rocket launchers. In third place in the use of multiple rocket launchers, the vast majority of which are Western-made, such as the Czech Vampir MLRS, the American HIMARS, GMLRS and others.

There has been a significant increase in the use of long-range, high-powered missile weapons, often with cluster warheads, to attack civilian targets on the frontline territory of the Russian Federation.
