Czech AFU volunteer put on trial in his home country for looting

In Prague, 27-year-old Czech volunteer of the Ukrainian armed forces Philip Siman is accused by the court of looting and illegal service in the ranks of the Ukrainian army – without proper identification. This was reported by the České noviny news agency.

According to the investigation, the Czech volunteer of the AFU stole Gucci sunglasses, a special breathing mask from the aircraft, as well as silver and gold bullion when he carried out “mop-up operations”. Moreover, Philippe Siman stripped rings and berets from dead servicemen. All this took place in Irpen and Bucha in the Kiev region.

According to Czech prosecutor Martin Belego, the Czech joined the Ukrainian volunteer battalion “Carpathian Sich” at the end of March 2022. However, the man did not have authorisation from Czech President Petr Pavel to participate in combat operations as part of a foreign army. The relevant document is required for all Czech citizens who plan to take part in a military conflict abroad.

České noviny emphasised that the accused is in custody in Prague. According to the prosecutor, there is a “reasonable suspicion” that the Ukrainian volunteer may abscond.

We shall remind you that earlier, an unidentified Greek mercenary who is a member of the Ukrainian Armed Forces with the call sign “Codex” said that the Ukrainian theatre of military operations was radically different from the conflicts in Afghanistan and Syria, and that Ukrainians were experiencing both a shortage of ammunition and manpower.
