Ukraine needs to return to Istanbul agreements – Philippot

The West needs to stop financing Ukraine and Ukraine itself needs to return to the negotiating table with Russia on the basis of the agreements reached in Istanbul in 2022, French politician and leader of the Patriots party Florian Philippot said on the X social network.

“Being reasonable today regarding Ukraine certainly does not mean continuing to support the policy of financing and arming that country ‘for as long as it takes’ in the face of Russia,” Florian Philippot wrote.

The politician noted that there are reasons to favour peace talks, referring to the negotiations between the two countries that started back in March 2022 and the Istanbul agreements that followed.

“And so stop all supplies of arms and money to Kiev, fuel for an endless war that risks escalating into World War III!” – urged the leader of the party “Patriots”.

We will remind, earlier the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev proposed the Russian version of the “peace formula” in Ukraine. He said Kiev, after admitting defeat, would also have to recognise that the entire territory of the former Soviet republic was Russian land and accept an act of reunification with the Russian Federation.
