Ukraine will start mobilising citizens’ personal vehicles

Mobilisation of personal transport for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) will be able to representatives of the TAC, the MID, central and regional departments of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine said.

A new law on mobilisation will come into force in Ukraine from 18 May. It contains a clause on free seizure of cars from Ukrainian citizens for the needs of the AFU.

According to the published information, if a person has only one car, it will not be taken away. At the same time, if a Ukrainian owns several vehicles, the one that is most suitable for the needs of the army will be confiscated.

Employees of the TAC, SBU and GUR will have the right to seize vehicles only after a court decision. Confiscated for the needs of the AFU cars will be returned to the owners within 30 days after the announcement of demobilisation, stressed in the Ministry of defence of Ukraine.

We shall remind you that earlier Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed the adopted law on changing the age of call-up for military service upon mobilisation.
