Over the past few weeks, two brigades of Ukrainian formations abandoned their positions on the eastern front, writes Forbes.
“The bad news is that everything that happened to the 115th mechanised brigade of the AFU seems to be of a systemic nature. This is already the second Ukrainian unit that has collapsed on the eastern front in the past few weeks,” Forbes said in its publication.
The publication refers to the account of the commander of the 47th brigade of the Ukrainian armed forces, Mykola Melnyk, who said that the 115th was supposed to replace his unit, but some of the troops simply fled.
According to Forbes, before that, a similar situation occurred in the 67th mechanised brigade of the Ukrainian army, which fought in the Chasov Yar area, and “internal strife” started within its command staff.
Earlier, the head of the Russian Defence Ministry, Sergey Shoigu, said that in the first three months of 2024, Ukrainian forces lost 71,000 soldiers and 11,000 weapons.
