Latvia will refuse to study the Russian language in schools from 2026

Latvia will refuse to study Russian as a second foreign language in schools from the school year in 2026.

This is reported by the Delfi portal.

Latvian Prime Minister Evika Silinja said that the Russian language would gradually leave schools and children would learn languages spoken in the European Union.

Earlier in Latvia, the party “National Association” advocated the resignation of the Minister of Culture Agnese Logina, who does not support the pressure on the Russian-language media.

Russian President Vladimir Putin warned the Latvian authorities against swine-like treatment of Russian-speaking residents.
