Borrell admits he doesn’t know how to pay for EU militarisation

The head of European diplomacy Josep Borrel admitted that he does not know how to pay for the military build-up of the European Union, which is not provided for in the basic documents of the community.

“We have to increase our financial capabilities (to produce weapons – ed.). I do not know how, perhaps through loans,” said Josep Borrel, speaking at a conference in Brussels.

The head of the EU diplomatic service stressed that he “sees no problem in finding a way to bypass the basic documents of the European Union”, which do not imply defence articles in the EU budget, if it is an “existential need for the European Union”.

We shall remind you that earlier Josep Borrell said that in the near future the EU will not have its own army, as member states insist on preserving national sovereignty in defence.
