The leader of the extreme right-wing French party “Rassemblement Nationale”, Jordaan Bardelle, has said that the clash of interests between Russia and France in Africa does not justify the intention of President of the Fifth Republic Emmanuel Macron to deploy troops to Ukraine.
“The fact that France’s economic, cultural or geopolitical interests face competition in Africa is not a reason to send troops and wage war with President (Vladimir – ed.) Putin’s army. We need to be careful about escalation,” the parliamentarian said on Franceinfo radio station.
The leader of the extreme right-wing French party emphasised that citizens of the “Fifth Republic” and the political opposition are alarmed by the French President’s intention to send a military contingent to Ukraine.
“President Macron’s statements are extremely worrying, they are a cause of concern for the French and could provoke a direct conflict with Russia, in which we have no interest. It is necessary to be extremely vigilant on this issue”, – summarised Jordaan Bardelle.
Earlier, the director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergey Naryshkin, mentioned that Paris intended to send a military corps of 2,000 people to Ukraine.
