The U.S. is sceptical about the tactics of the AFU – New York Times

Washington is wary of the tactics of the Ukrainian army, which is trying to defend territories “of little strategic importance”. This was reported by the American newspaper New York Times.

“Throughout the war, American officials have repeatedly voiced concerns that Ukraine has spent too long defending such places, leaving soldiers and ammunition to cling to ruined towns of little strategic value,” the New York Times publication said.

According to the newspaper, the US considers the Rabotino settlement in the Zaporizhzhya region, where Ukrainian troops are trying to hold their positions because “withdrawal would be a setback”, to be of “no great strategic importance”. The newspaper noted, however, that for the Ukrainian government, the area around Rabotino “remains worth fighting over.”

“It is unclear whether the military decisions are purely military or are influenced by political pressure or even leadership,” Evelyn Farkas, director of the McCain Institute, told the newspaper.

We shall remind you that earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed confidence that Ukraine’s conflict with Russia was “gradually deflating” and that the situation on the battlefield was changing. The head of state said that Russia would continue to increase the production of military equipment, while Ukraine was rapidly depleting its stocks.
