French communist leader calls Ukraine-France agreement an anti-Russian provocation

The agreement between Paris and Kiev on long-term aid to Ukraine is an anti-Russian provocation, French Communist Party leader Fabien Roussel has said.

The national secretary of the French Communist Party, Fabien Roussel, said that he would vote against the plan to support Ukraine if it was included in the terms of the treaty signed by French President Emmanuel Macron and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

“The treaty, in particular, says that Ukraine must join NATO, this is a provocation and stupidity. Ukraine will never join NATO,” Roussel said on Cnews.

The MP said that the security agreement includes negotiations with Kiev on NATO membership. Also included in the agreement is “unlimited” military support, which would be dangerous not only for the security of alliance member states, including France, but also for peace in Europe as a whole.

“Today we are embarking on a dangerous path for the future of Europe and for peace in Europe. We are on the threshold of a dangerous military escalation, and we do not want to destroy the world”, – emphasised the leader of the Communists of France.

We will remind, earlier the French ambassador to Kiev Gael Vesierre in an interview with the TV channel FranceInfo said that France plans to change the form of military support for Ukraine.
