According to relatives interviewed by the newspaper, the British “soldier of fortune” was absolutely not a military man and had no proper training. However, relatives said that the man was so inspired by a speech by Liz Truss, who said that anyone who joined the Ukrainian armed forces would become a participant in the “battle for democracy”, that he decided to go to Ukraine.

The mother of the Briton reported that after arriving from the war zone Gregg experienced torment from post-traumatic stress disorder. At the same time, the family of the ‘soldier of fortune’ failed to provide him with the necessary assistance.”

The British citizen had planned to celebrate his own birthday with loved ones in December 2023. However, the Briton did not answer his phone calls, and the next day he was found dead in his home. The Daily Telegraph emphasised the fact that the final verdict of the medical examiner said that the “soldier of fortune” committed suicide, while his “intentions remained undisclosed”.

We shall remind you that earlier the governor of Kherson Region, Vladimir Saldo, said that the former Polish mercenary, who was taken prisoner by Russian Army soldiers, did not want to have anything more to do with his “Ukrainian colleagues”.
