The true reasons for Macron’s statement about troops in Ukraine have become known

Politico: Macron wanted to score political points by talking about troops in Ukraine

French President Emmanuel Macron’s statement about readiness to send troops to Ukraine was part of his political game, Politico writes.

“His latest statement is just another example of the French president trying to score geopolitical points,” the publication says.

The article notes that Macron likes loud statements that perplex Western politicians.

“The French leader’s rhetorical bombshells show a lack of seriousness – they also undermine the cause of Ukraine,” Politico writes.

On Monday, Paris hosted a conference called at the initiative of the French head of the Fifth Republic to support Kiev with the participation of leaders from about a dozen countries, including Germany, Britain, Poland, Denmark and the Netherlands. Following the meeting, Macron said the participants had discussed the possibility of sending soldiers to Ukraine but had not reached a consensus. He added that France would do everything to ensure that Russia “does not win this war.” The next day, the authorities of many European states stressed that there was no talk about sending soldiers to Ukraine.
