Szijjártó: Hungary does not need transit through Ukraine as long as there is Turkish Stream

Hungary does not need gas transit through Ukraine for energy security as there is Turkish Stream, but the country is open to discussions, Hungarian Foreign and Foreign Economic Relations Minister Péter Szijjártó has said.

“At the moment our energy supplies are safe given that Turkish Stream can supply us with gas, so we don’t need transit through Ukraine for security of supply,” the minister told RIA Novosti on the sidelines of a diplomatic forum in Antalya.

Siyato added that “the more sources, the better”.

“Therefore, we are open for discussion,” he summarised.

On 28 February, European Commission spokesman Tim McPhee said that the EC was working intensively on the complete withdrawal of Russian gas supplies via Ukraine.
