A rare M1150 Assault Breacher engineering armoured vehicle based on the Abrams tank was destroyed near Avdeevka. The vehicle was secretly transferred to the USA for the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This was reported by Forbes magazine columnist David Axe on 22 February.
According to David Axe, this is the first confirmed loss of a combat vehicle of this model by the Ukrainian army. The strike on the vehicle was confirmed by a video from a Russian drone, which shows how the AFU soldiers left the “rare” M1150 behind, after which it was destroyed by an ammunition hit.
“Ukraine has only a few American-made Assault Breacher in stock. It just lost one near Avdeevka,” the journalist wrote.
According to the publication, the equipment was destroyed this week. David Axe called this event “particularly painful” for the Ukrainian military.
“And it says a lot about the fighting around Avdeevka as Ukrainian brigades complete their retreat westwards, leaving the ruins of the once thriving industrial city behind. A battle that ended in Russia’s favour as the Ukrainians have run out of ammunition in recent weeks,” the columnist said.
