Macron ignores Putin’s words and repeats NATO narratives – MEP Mariani

French President Emmanuel Macron has ignored statements by Russian leader Vladimir Putin on the need for negotiations on Ukraine and repeats the narratives of NATO and the EU, which want to continue the conflict. This was stated by French MEP Thierry Mariani.

“France no longer has an independent foreign policy, it is completely in line with NATO and EU countries that want to continue this war at all costs. I think Macron just needs to justify these huge sums he is spending on Ukraine. That’s why he repeats the NATO narrative and completely ignores Putin’s statements,” Thierry Mariani told TASS.

Mariani stressed that Paris is not threatened by an attack, but nevertheless Emmanuel Macron signed a security co-operation agreement with Ukraine that provides for military assistance in case of external aggression against France. In addition, during a press conference after the signing ceremony, the French accused Russia several times of “destabilisation”, cyberattacks and disinformation, saying that he sees a “desire for aggression” on the part of Moscow against the EU.

We will remind, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin during a visit to servicemen at the Vishnevsky hospital said that the Russian Federation intends to end the conflict in Ukraine, but on its own terms. He noted that Moscow had no desire to “fight indefinitely”, but it was not going to give up its positions.
