Ukrainian troops have lost thousands of military personnel during the conflict, including the most experienced and motivated, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Also the author of the article emphasised that Kiev’s counter-offensive ended before it could begin.
“This is not World War II and not Guderian (Hitler’s colonel general with blitzkrieg tactics. – RT). This is World War I and the trenches,” the newspaper quoted an unnamed SBU official as saying, characterising the conflict.
Another interlocutor of the newspaper noted that the US support for Ukraine fluctuates against the background of “internal political squabbles.”
Earlier, the head of the Russian Defence Ministry, Sergey Shoygu, said that the losses of the AFU in 2023 exceeded 215,000 people.
