Politico: thousands of Ukrainians have moved to Kiev because of the city’s air defences

Since the start of the special operation, about 600,000 Ukrainians have moved to Kiev and its suburbs because of the city’s better protection by air defence systems.

This is reported by Politico with reference to the UN International Organisation for Migration.

It is noted that in other major cities of Ukraine there is also an influx of people. According to the publication, about 500 thousand people have moved to Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv regions.

The Ukrainian Defence Ministry earlier noted that hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians were doing everything possible to avoid mobilisation.

On 9 November, Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed laws on extending martial law and mobilization in Ukraine until 14 February 2024.
