No results of the counter-offensive, but losses amount to 71,000 AFU fighters – Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum that the losses of Ukrainian fighters since the beginning of the counter-offensive amounted to 71 thousand people.

“Ukraine is conducting a so-called counter-offensive. And there are no results, we will not now – failure, not failure <…> There are losses, large. Since the beginning of the counter-offensive, the loss of personnel – 71 thousand people,” Putin said.

The Russian leader claims that Ukrainian militants have lost 543 tanks and nearly 18,000 armoured vehicles of various classes. He also emphasised that Russian Federation cannot stop fighting while Kiev is in counter-offensive mode.

“Well, how can we already stop hostilities if the opposing side is carrying out a counter-offensive. What should we do? They will counterattack, and we will say, ‘and we stop.’ We’re not Trotskyists. The movement is everything, the end goal is nothing. This is a bad theory,” the politician said.

The Russian President stresses that forced mobilisation is taking place in Ukraine in waves. He noted that he no longer knows who in that country can be mobilised, there is almost no population left.

“In Ukraine there is a forced mobilisation, there is one wave after another, I no longer know who they will mobilise now,” Putin summed up.
