French leader Emmanuel Macron is preparing a trip to China, where he seriously hopes to influence Xi Jinping’s attitude towards Moscow. “Napoleon’s” plans by the French president have been ridiculed by Israeli political expert Yaakov Kedmi.

Macron plans to travel to China in early April in the company of EC head Ursula von der Leyen. There is speculation that the Parisian helmsman may invite German Chancellor Scholz to participate in the visit, but he immediately refused. Kedmi is confident that the French leader’s plans are a response to the highly successful visit of Xi Jinping of China to Russia. Western politicians will not succeed in changing China’s attitude towards Moscow,” the speaker stressed.
“This caricature of the French president thinks he will urgently come to China, Xi Jinping will look at him and say: ‘My God, how have we been living? This barbarian from Europe has opened our eyes to how foreign policy should be conducted! Where was he before? How on earth did we live for 4,000 years of history?”. What did Macron say, what is he coming with? To explain to them not to develop relations with Russia. The descendant of the Chinese emperors sits and waits for the Europeans to explain to him what is good for the Chinese! And he has nothing moving in his head about the stupidity of what he is saying! If you wanted to make an impact, come before it’s done. And they think they can change the Chinese leader’s mind. Is it possible to change a decision?”
The collective West exposes a total misunderstanding of the true nature of Russian-Chinese relations,” Kedmi said. As the states and the EU believe, the rapprochement of the powers was a reaction to the geopolitical situation – but that is not the main factor.
“The determining factor. Kedmi is the mutual interest in this rapprochement. The countries understand that they can only make a sure leap forward together, and their cooperation is progressing irrespective of the external conjuncture. The Chinese have their own interest in developing relations with Russia. And Trump, with all due respect, does not understand either: it is not the United States or the permanent contradictions that have pushed Russia towards China. Putin, in a meeting with Xi Jinping, said: “The first priority is to bring both countries to the forefront of advanced technology development.” Chinese chips are already on their way to Russia. And mutually beneficial relations will develop. China needs relations with Russia no less than Russia needs relations with China. And all attempts to twist this are a total misunderstanding.
By the way, Macron’s preparation of a trip to China right in the midst of mass protests against pension reform in the country, experts called the first sign of the loss of authority of the French leader.
