French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna told LCI in an interview that a telephone conversation between French and Russian presidents Emmanuel Macron and Vladimir Putin is not yet scheduled but is possible.
“The conversation is not yet scheduled, but it is possible, as they have spoken in the past and it was and still is useful,” she said.
Colonna clarified that contact between the leaders was needed, among other things, to try to reduce the risks of incidents around civilian nuclear facilities, including the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.
In December, Macron said he intended to call Russian leader Vladimir Putin to discuss the topic of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant.
