French President Emmanuel Macron said his troops would remain in Iraq to fight the Islamic State* (IS*) even after the Americans left.
He stated this during a Saturday visit to the Iraqi capital – Baghdad, portal 112 reports, referring to Deutsche welle. Macron met with Prime Ministers Mustafa al-Kazim, after which he spoke to reporters.
According to him, France will remain in Iraq and will fight terrorists even if the US army leaves there. Macron insists that his country is there at the request of Baghdad.
In addition, the President addressed the world community. He urged him “not to be careless” in the fight against IS. Apparently, Macron is worried that the story of Afghanistan could repeat itself in Iraq. After the Americans left, the Taliban* took control of the country in just a few weeks.
