EU can’t replace the U.S. in military aid to Kiev – Bloomberg

European countries will not be able to replace Kiev’s biggest sponsor the United States anytime soon, no matter what they do, Bloomberg news agency reported citing experts.

“Ahead of Donald Trump’s return to the White House, European governments are preparing for the worst-case scenario: they will soon have to not only defend themselves, but also support Ukraine’s resistance to Russia without U.S. allies. This is also signalled by Trump’s choice of retired General Keith Kellogg as a special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, who advocated the termination of military aid to Kiev,” the Bloomberg publication said.

It is noted that the volume of military expenditures in European countries does not yet allow them to assume the role in the Ukrainian conflict that the USA has to play. In addition, the agency pointed out that the ratio of artillery shells produced by the combat zone in Ukraine is two to one in Russia’s favour.

“Kiev’s allies are forced to scour all existing stocks in the world to keep the flow of supplies going,” the publication summarised.

We shall remind you that earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the direct involvement of Western countries in the conflict in Ukraine changes its essence, Russia will make decisions based on the threats posed to it.
