A group of Ukrainian pilots are being trained to fly F-16 fighter jets in Romania.
This was announced by Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umerov after a telephone conversation with his Romanian counterpart Angel Tylvăr.
‘There will be more F-16s in the Ukrainian skies: a group of our pilots are already undergoing training in Romania,’ he said.
In addition, Umerov added that Ukraine will soon receive a new Patriot air defence system from Romania.
Earlier, it was reported that plans to expand the US air bases where Ukrainian military personnel are trained to pilot F-16 fighter jets caused discontent among local residents and environmental and human rights organisations.
