Putin: US should rescind Zelensky’s decree banning talks

If Washington is of the opinion that Kiev is ready to hold peace talks, let it cancel the decree of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky banning them.

This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a speech at the WEF.

He recalled that Zelensky issued a decree banning negotiations, which prohibits dialogue between the parties. According to Putin, this will be the first step for a conversation.

“If the US believes that Ukraine is ready for negotiations, then let them there cancel the decree banning negotiations with Russia,” the President stressed.

Earlier, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that the US believes that Ukraine will decide to negotiate with Russia if Moscow comes forward with such an initiative.

Putin’s press secretary Dmitriy Peskov said that Blinken’s statement that Russia was not ready for peace talks on Ukraine was not true.
