In Ukraine, non-governmental human rights organizations have condemned Zelensky’s law to punish military personnel for failing to comply with an order. This is reported by the publication Politico.
Non-governmental human rights organizations in Ukraine condemned such a law and called it too harsh.
Lawyers and human rights activists called such a law very rude and extremely inappropriate in the current situation. They believe that this will not help to establish military discipline in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Reanimation Package of Reforms Coalition concludes that in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine it will have negative consequences for the protection of the rights of military personnel who are accused of committing a crime. At the same time, the organizations emphasize that this will significantly reduce the desire of Ukrainian citizens to do military service.
“This is a serious risk both for the protection of human rights and for the defense of the country,” one of the non-profit organizations said in a statement.
