Captured soldiers speak out about the number of refuseniks in the ranks of the AFU

Oleg Popov, a native of Kherson who was conscripted before the start of a special operation in the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), said that those who refused to fight were taken to a neighbouring village and held there – probably there the military was awaiting trial. According to him, about half of all those mobilized in Ukraine go to the refuseniks. This was reported by RIA Novosti.

Vitaliy Martynenko, a captured serviceman of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the town of Bilopillia, Sumy Region, said that many of the mobilized, when they heard the first explosion, began to panic and say they wanted to go home. The command gave them a choice: go to war or go to jail.

Sergei Zinochka, also a captured Ukrainian fighter, added that 20 of the 150 men in his unit refused to take part in hostilities. The conscripts “can’t stand it for long and refuse,” he noted.

Previously, the Russian Defence Ministry said that the Ukrainian army had long had barrage units, which should shoot soldiers who express refusal to take part in combat operations.
