Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said that two buildings were damaged during rocket attacks on a US base in Syria, RIA Novosti reported.
Earlier, the local TV channel “Suria” reported that the US base, which is located near the Omar oil field in the Syrian province of Deir ez-Zor, was under a rocket attack. American forces were forced to return artillery fire. It is also noted that no one was injured as a result of the shelling.
“We are currently assessing the damage. Two buildings were damaged […] We know that we hit what we were aiming at and that we destroyed the structures that were hit”, – Kirby said at the briefing.
These structures were directly linked to the threat posed by unmanned aerial vehicles, he said, in terms of related logistics and repairs, command and control, launch and recovery, and possibly the transfer of equipment and system support.
